Justice Ministry says inspections are routine
The caretaker Justice Ministry said that the commission-led inspections of public prosecutors’ offices ordered by Supreme Public Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac are routine and should not be portrayed as an extraordinary measure linked to the recent parliamentary elections. The ministry condemned what it called sensationalist media reporting and warned against targeting prosecutors, saying this could further raise tensions in society. It said all public prosecutors’ offices would be inspected in turn under Dolovac’s mandatory directive, with a five-member commission carrying out the reviews. The ministry stressed that inspections must comply with the law and respect the constitutional guarantee of prosecutors’ independence.
