Szalai: N1, Nova should remain independent
Pavol Szalai of Reporters Without Borders spoke to N1 about the changes in the media scene, warning of the fallout if N1 and Nova are no longer independent media outlets. N1 - We saw the political change here in Serbia. What do you expect from the media now, but also from state institutions and politicians? Szalai - The first thing I expect is a different approach to communication with journalists. There should be no political attacks, all journalists should have access to press conferences, and there should be no hate speech against reporters. This has been one of the biggest threats until now under the rule of Aleksandar Vucic, who was really a press freedom predator, attacking journalists almost daily and focusing on N1 and Nova S.
