Riot police deployed in central Belgrade, Students call for calm

Police in riot gear were deployed in central Belgrade on Sunday evening as tents were being set up again in the park at the presidency building where regime supporters gathered for months. The Masina news portal reported trucks bringing equipment into the park which remains surrounded by metal barriers. The FoNet news agency reported riot police in full gear deployed in and around the park and near the Belgrade City Assembly. The park, known as Cacilend, became a camp for a group opposing student blockades and protests during the student-led movement against the government.
