REM chief says regulator has to follow legal procedures

The head of Serbia’s electronic media regulator REM said that body has to follow legal procedures when its governing Council considers the initiative to suspend Informer TV’s broadcasting license. REM Council chief Stevica Smederevac said a decision taken without due process could be overturned by the Administrative Court. Smederevac is alleged to be a loyalist of the Vucic regime. He said the REM Council will discuss proceedings based on submitted complaints, including the initiative signed by 32 organizations alleging multiple media violations, at a meeting on Thursday.
