Dacic: Terrorist attack targets guard at Israeli Embassy; assailant killed

Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister and caretaker Internal Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic said a terrorist attack was carried out in Belgrade shortly after midnight on Wednesday against a guard outside the Israeli Embassy, and that the assailant was killed. “A minor, whose identity has not yet been confirmed but who is believed to be from the town of Sabac, shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ before lunging at the guard and attacking him with two knives,” the Internal Affairs Ministry quoted Dacic as saying. He added that the guard suffered a minor cut to the face, and that he killed the assailant in self-defense.
