Journalists’ associations call Alpac to reconsider plans for Nova daily

Both of Serbia’s largest journalists’ organizations called Alpac Capital to reconsider its plans for the Nova daily and 2 podcasts. The Journalists' Association of Serbia (UNS) and the Independent Journalists' Association of Serbia (NUNS) spoke out against the Alpac Capital decision to shut down the daily newspaper Nova and two podcasts - Dobar, los, zao and Pik end rol - and end cooperation with freelance contributors to Nova.rs, Nova TV and Radar weekly. The associations also warned that the planned withdrawal of access to Profimedia and EPA photo services would create a problem for the newsrooms. They said the decisions, announced without prior consultation with editors, raised concerns that the group's media outlets and editorial independence were being systematically weakened under the new ownership.
