Thousands celebrate Student List victory in Belgrade and Novi Sad

Tens of thousands of people gathered at Belgrade's Slavija Square on Monday evening for a second night of celebrations following the Student List's victory in Sunday's parliamentary elections. The square and surrounding streets filled with people singing, chanting and waving Serbian flags. Flares and fireworks were set off, while a stage was installed and DJs played music. Student organizers called on citizens to celebrate peacefully, stressing that there was no place for clashes or violence. Professor Aleksandar Cupic, a candidate on the Student List, described the gathering as a "volcano of good emotions and good spirits," adding that the previous night's celebrations had been brief in comparison.
