Election victory celebrations draw crowds to RTS and Pink, students urge calm

Thousands of people gathered in Belgrade on Monday evening to celebrate the Student List's victory in Sunday's parliamentary election, with smaller groups assembling outside the headquarters of the state TV (RTS) and the pro-Vucic regime commercial TV Pink. Several dozen people gathered outside RTS, where the gathering appeared peaceful, with some participants dancing the traditional Serbian kolo. Outside Pink, a police cordon protected the television building as supporters of the Student List gathered nearby. The celebrations came amid tensions over media coverage during the election campaign and demands for greater accountability from broadcasters accused of favouring the ruling party.
